How to get your event on the calendar or request an update to run information

Submitting a paddling event

We'd love to put your event on the community calendar. If you have a race, festival, clinic, fundraiser, or generally paddling-related event, please let us know. To add it to the calendar we'll need some minimum required information. I will not publish personal information of organizers on the event listing, but if you don't provide a contact for yourself in case I have questions or need more info, I won't be publishing your event. We don't check this email address constantly, as this site is not our full time job, so not all submissions may make it on the calendar-- please give us plenty of lead time. We reserve the right to take a pass on any individual submission, or we just might not have time to get it up on the site, sorry!

Required info:

  • Event title
  • Event type
  • Location
  • Date and time
  • Web address or phone contact
  • Organizer/host
  • Organizer contact for participants
  • Cost (if any)
  • Organizer contact for questions from us (include if different from above contact. This will not be published to site)

Submitting run information

If there is a paddling run we haven't included and you'd like to see it on this site, let us know and we might be able to get it going. We've tried to include the most common runs in the region, but its easy to miss. To get a run up, there's quite a bit of information we need to know to make the gauge calls and site display work correctly, so please submit all required info as well as your personal contact in case we have questions. If you don't provide all the info, there is almost zero chance we can add it to the site, thanks. There must be a USGS or CDWR gauge associated with the run either directly on it or close enough upstream or downstream that paddlers typically index flows for the run from it.

Required info:

  • Your personal contact information: name/email/phone (used by us for additional questions, not published on the site)
  • Run metadata:
    • River basin
    • River name
    • Run or segment name (what most locals call this run)
    • Put in (most typical choice(s), if there are multiple options)
    • Take out (most typical choice(s), if there are multiple options)
    • Grade or difficulty (general run difficulty at most typical flows, plus the max difficulty af any uncharacteristic rapids or portages. Example '3+ (4)' )
  • Flow information:
    • USGS or CDWR gauge ID and name
    • Minimum flow to run it
    • Optimal preferred flow range for boating
    • Maximum recommended safe flow
